Hi Boys,
Lots of mayflies on the water as well as caddis. I caught my first big chub (35 cm) and he put up a good fight. The fish were rising and ended the day with 28 trout (not counting the dinks) all around 30 to 35 cm. They were all caught on either my light brown famous CDCDR (F-Fly with a twist) or a red bodied spent.
It sprinkled a bit towards the evening, but otherwise - the weather was perfect. Lots of fishermen on the river. Saw 6 guys before eve. Then in the evening Drs Claude and Francois came as well as the local specialist Philippe accompanied by 14 year old Edouard.
The water was pretty clear (not the usual but good enough) and low. Guys were catching them on nymphs as well, but if I saw a riser - he would take my CDCDR. There was one or two that didn't like my caddis so the spent imitation did the trick. I worked on one fish for over an hour before finally bringing him in - probably felt sorry for me! Lots of LDR's as well (long distance releases) of which some looked to be in the 40 cm category (the biggest fish always gets away right?!!).
It was a nice day at Bure - I love that river cause it's a beautiful place in the valley and there are fish to be caught - even by a gringo like me!
Tight lines!
